Why DKP Academy exists

The automotive locksmith profession lacks trained professionals — we decided to fix that

Field training
The situation

A profession under pressure, almost no formal training available

Automotive locksmithing is a technical trade that isn't taught in any traditional school. Immobilizer systems evolve every year — encrypted transponders, proximity keys, MQB, Hitag AES, NFC digital keys — and most technicians learn on the job, without structure or method.

The problem is that the market is exploding. Dealerships are overwhelmed, lead times are growing, and vehicle owners want an immediate solution. There's a shortage of competent professionals, capable of intervening at customer locations with the right equipment and procedures. That's exactly why we created DKP Académie.

What makes the difference: our instructors aren't theorists. They're active DKP technicians who work on real breakdowns, real keys, and real vehicles every day.

The automotive locksmith training program

Theory with our internal experts + field immersion with our technicians

Phase 1 — Theoretical training (2 weeks)

Delivered by our certified internal instructors

1
Automotive immobilizer systems

Transponder operation (Hitag2, Hitag Pro, Megamos 48, MQB ID49, AES), vehicle electronic architecture, key/ECU communication, authentication protocols.

2
Mastery of professional tools

Complete hands-on training with dealership-level OBD tools: Autel IM608 Pro II, VVDI Key Tool Plus, SEC-E9 Pro for cutting, Lishi 2-in-1 tools for picking.

3
Manufacturer-specific procedures

Each manufacturer has its specifics. We cover procedures for VAG Group, Stellantis, Toyota, Hyundai-Kia, BMW Group, JLR, and emerging Chinese brands.

4
Non-destructive opening methods

Lishi picking, mechanical bypass, non-destructive door opening. Each method is practiced on real cylinders until complete mastery.

Phase 2 — Practical field internship (2 to 4 weeks)

In partnership with a certified DKP technician

1
Immersion with an experienced DKP technician

You accompany a certified DKP technician on real interventions. You observe, then practice under direct supervision. Every intervention is a learning opportunity.

2
Progressive interventions

We start with simple cases — mechanical key duplication, IMMO3 programming — then increase in complexity: total loss, Smart Key, Kessy, recent vehicles.

3
Customer relations and DKP procedures

Owner identity verification, on-site quotation, work order execution, complete testing with the customer present. Technical expertise alone isn't enough — professional demeanor is part of the training.

4
Final evaluation and DKP certification

At the end of your internship, your mentor evaluates your autonomy across 5 types of interventions. If you pass, you receive DKP certification and can join the network immediately.

Who is the automotive locksmith training for?

Career transition or skills development — two paths, one same objective

Career transition
Have you never touched a car key in your life? No problem. The DKP Académie program starts from zero. We teach you the basics of automotive electronics, how immobilizers work, then practice step by step. Mechanics, electricians, security officers, and even IT professionals have successfully completed the training. What matters is motivation and rigor.
Technical skills development
You're already a locksmith or automotive technician, but you're struggling with recent systems? MQB, FEM/BDC, KVM, AES proximity keys — these technologies evolve fast. DKP Academy brings you up to speed on the latest generations of transponders and control units. You'll leave with skills directly applicable in the field.
Business creation
Want to launch your own automotive locksmith business? DKP training gives you the technical skills, and the DKP network provides your first clients right after certification. No need to prospect — the platform sends you missions in your area.
Motorcycle & heavy vehicle specialization
Specific modules for technicians who want to expand their services to two-wheelers (Honda, Yamaha, BMW Motorrad) and heavy vehicles (Volvo Trucks, Scania, MAN). Rare market niches that help you stand out.

Our trainers — field professionals

No theoretical lectures divorced from reality — every trainer works daily for DKP

Our approach

Technicians who train, not trainers who recite

Most automotive locksmith training is delivered by people who haven't touched a tool in years. At DKP, it's the opposite. Our trainers are certified technicians who intervene every week on real situations — total key loss, recent vehicles, stressed clients, difficult weather conditions.

They know exactly what problems a beginner will encounter, because they encounter them themselves. The training they deliver is rooted in field reality, not in a manual. That's what makes the difference between a hesitant technician and a confident one.

Verified expertise
Each trainer has validated a minimum of 500 successful interventions before being authorized to train. We don't entrust trainees to just anyone.
Multi-brand knowledge
VAG, Stellantis, BMW Group, Toyota, Hyundai-Kia, JLR, Chinese brands — our trainers cover the entire European vehicle fleet.
Continuous updates
Technologies evolve every year. Our trainers are the first to test new procedures in the field before integrating them into the curriculum.

Frequently asked questions — Automotive locksmith training

What candidates ask us before registering

Do I need experience to take the DKP automotive locksmith training?
No. DKP Academy was designed to welcome career changers as well as experienced technicians. The curriculum starts with fundamentals — understanding what a transponder is, how an immobilizer works — and progressively builds to advanced procedures. Mechanics, auto electricians, security officers, and even people from IT have successfully completed the training.
How long is the complete training?
Training takes place in two phases: 2 weeks of intensive theory with our internal trainers, then 2 to 4 weeks of practical field training alongside our certified technicians. The duration of practical training depends on your progress and initial profile. In total, plan for 4 to 6 weeks to be operational and certified.
Does practical training take place on real client interventions?
Yes, it's actually the centerpiece of the training. You accompany a certified DKP technician on their daily interventions. You work as a permanent pair — they guide you, observe you, correct you. You start by observing, then gradually take on simple cases, and finally more complex interventions. That's how you learn a manual trade: by doing it.
Does DKP certification allow me to work immediately?
Yes. As soon as your certification is validated, you can join the DKP network as an independent operator. The AI platform directly sends you missions in your geographic area. You benefit from the DKP client flow, access to major accounts, technical support, and brand recognition from day one.
Where does the training take place?
The theoretical part takes place in our facilities in France or Belgium, depending on the sessions. The practical internship is conducted directly on the ground, in the geographic area where you intend to work. This is the advantage of a national network — we place you with a mentor close to your location.
