BMW key replacement — FAQ

How long does a BMW key replacement take?
A BMW key replacement typically takes 60 to 180 minutes depending on the model and the immobiliser generation (CAS, FEM/BDC). Total key loss on a recent BMW with FEM/BDC can take up to 3 hours due to encrypted ECU programming.
Can DKP programme a BMW key without the original?
Yes. DKP technicians cut and programme new BMW keys without the original, even in the case of total key loss. We work directly via OBD or, on FEM/BDC vehicles, through ECU access to write a new key onto the immobiliser.
How much does a BMW key fob cost?
A replacement BMW key fob (Comfort Access included) costs between €249 and €590 via DKP, depending on the model. The price includes the OEM-grade blank, cutting, programming and on-site testing.
Does DKP work on BMW i / iX electric models?
Yes. We programme keys for the full BMW electric range — i3, i4, i7, iX1, iX3, iX. The procedure is similar to the petrol equivalents but requires the latest diagnostic tools, which DKP technicians carry as standard.
